Xcel Leisure Complex and Hurst Pool to re-open on 3 August
Following the government’s decision to allow indoor gyms and leisure facilities to re-open, Elmbridge Borough Council and Places Leisure - who manage the facilities on behalf of the council - are pleased to announce that the Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex and Hurst Pool will be re-opening their doors on 3 August.
Places Leisure staff are busy making preparations to ensure members and visitors can enjoy facilities safely, in line with Public Health England advice and government guidelines and in consultation with fitness trade association, ukactive.
Things will look different when you visit Xcel and Hurst Pool. Places Leisure are implementing new measures to keep staff and customers safe. Signage will ensure social distancing is respected. There will be reduced activity capacities and an enhanced cleaning regime. Hand sanitizing and cleaning stations will be available. To increase customer safety, sessions will need to be pre-booked via the Places Locker app or the Places Leisure website.
Dave Jones, General Manager Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex, said, “We have missed our customers and we’re excited to re-open on 3 August. We are busy implementing new measures to make your visit as safe and enjoyable as possible. We encourage you to watch our short information video before your first visit to familiarize yourself with the new centre layout. We also invite you to book your sessions online to avoid disappointment. We look forward to seeing you very soon”.
Cllr Janet Turner, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said, “We are pleased that many people managed to keep active at home during lockdown and exercised in green
spaces when allowed to do so but I am sure that those of you who regularly visited the gym or pool or took part in fitness classes before lockdown will be pleased to head back to Xcel and Hurst Pool. We are confident that Places Leisure are putting in place the necessary measures for everybody to exercise as safely as possible. Enjoy your visits back to Xcel and Hurst Pool.”
Customer FAQs are available on the Places Leisure website. The Places Leisure website will also include centre opening times, a list of activities that are available at each centre and details on how customers can book each activity.
The staff at Xcel and Hurst Pool cannot wait to welcome you back.
